It started with this video produced by six Democrat lawmakers encouraging the military to defy orders. The video provoked the President to call it "seditious behavior, punishable by death."
Here is the transcript of the lawmakers' video: "We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community who take risks each day to keep Americans safe. We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now. Americans trust their military, but that trust is at risk. This Administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens. Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this constitution. right now the threats to our constitution aren't just coming from from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear. YOU MUST REFUSE ILLEGAL ORDERS. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our constitution. We know this is hard and that it's a difficult time to be a public servant. But whether you're serving in the CIA, the Army, our Navy, the Air Force, your vigilance is critical. And know that we have your back because now, more than ever, the American people need you to stand up for our laws, our Constitution and who we are as Americans. DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP. "
The video statement is vague about the orders that it suggests are illegal. Is it the drug boat bombings, sending troops into violent cities, the Epstein files, the ballroom? None of the President's orders have proven to be illegal.
President Trump responded to this video message published by Democrat lawmakers saying, "This is seditious behavior, punishable by death." The video message encourages the military to defy his lawful orders. A very dangerous message and it perhaps is punishable by law.
Trump's press secretary Leavitt clarified here that the President's comment does not mean he wants to execute members of Congress. The President is not inciting violence here. She said, "the inciting of violence is coming from those members of Congress who made the video. They are encouraging 1.3 million active service members to defy the chain of command.
The clarification from the White House that there is no intention to "execute" members of Congress, did not stop CT U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D) and Richard Blumenthal (D) from grandstanding and turning up the heat. They slammed President Trump for making death threats. In particular, the reaction of Connecticut Senator Murphy was dramatic and intense. Murphy said here, "Maybe it's time to pick a f***ing side."
Between the Lines: Seems the CT Senator is trying to pick a fight just to get publicity. A dangerous ploy.
