CT Senate race: Republican Fazio vs Democrat Simmons

In the upcoming November election, the 36th State Senate Seat (covering all of Greenwich and parts of Stamford and New Canaan) will be on the ballot.  Republican Ryan Fazio is the incumbent who was elected in a tight race in 2021.  He will face off against Nick Simmons, a Greenwich native who has worked in the Lamont Administration for the last three years and whose sister Caroline is mayor of Stamford.

Greenwich has four representatives in Hartford - one in the State Senate and three in the State Assembly. Fazio, our State Senate representative, is the only Republican representing Greenwich in Hartford. Our State Assembly representatives (Meskers, Arzeno and Khanna) are all Democrats.

Fazio highlights what he has done to limit future energy cost increases, expand birth control access, cut taxes and return zoning decisions to local control.

Simmons highlights promises to grow the economy, keep taxes low, invest in infrastructure, fight for reproductive rights and work for common sense gun laws.

This an important race.  The Patch has good background here.
