CT is one of 22 states suing the federal government to keep the money flowing

CT Attorney General William Tong has joined a coalition of 22, mostly Democrat, attorney generals to sue the federal government for stopping the flow of funding to their states. AG Tong said, "This is a full assault on Connecticut families -- an unprecedented and blatantly lawless attack on every corner and level of our government and economy."

Indeed, a surprisingly large sum of money flows from the federal government to Connecticut. CT Comptroller Sean Scanlan tweeted here that the State received $14.3 billion of Federal funding in 2024. To put that into perspective, the total CT State Budget is $26 billion, so this represents an added 50% of what the State already spends. This is an enormous amount and has prompted many to request a public audit of how and where the federal money has been spent.

Between the Lines - This leads one to question, with so much Federal money, why are our CT taxes still so high?
