At Saturday's "No Kings" rally in Hartford, CT State Senator Saud Anwar, a Democrat from South Windsor, posed holding a sign "Cholesterol, do your job!" The sign with a big burger, french fries and fried chicken, poked at Trump's unhealthy diet with a hopeful hint at Trump's death.
Senator Anwar knows the meaning of the sign. He is a medical doctor and chair of the CT legislature's public health committee. Anwar gave the message more publicity by posting it on his Facebook page.
Ryan Fazio, Greenwich resident and Republican candidate for CT Governor, immediately condemned the actions of Anwar. Fazio further said that "With political violence on the rise, Governor Lamont's silence in the face of such horrendous rhetoric is a dereliction of leadership."
Surprise. Governor Lamont took action. On Monday, Lamont separated his views from his Democrat colleagues saying that Anwar should apologize. Lamont said "I thought that sign was offensive and inappropriate and he shouldn't have been there, next to that sign,"
Between the Lines: Fake outrage by Republicans or fake protests by Democrats. You decide.
