Jadion Anthony Richards, 44, and Akwele Nickeisha Lawes-Richards, 45, who reside in Danbury CT were part of an organized retail theft operation that stole $1 million of goods from Lululemon stores. Since September, the couple hit Luluemon stores in Minnesota, Connecticut, Colorado, New York and Utah.
How they did it. The criminals would enter a store and first purchase an item or two. Then using a tool, they would remove a security tag from another item and attach it to one of the purchased that set off the store alarm as they began leaving the store. Meanwhile, an accomplice would hide merchandise under their clothes and walk out while the clerks assumed the alarm was set off by the purchaser.
Between the Lines: No wonder Lululemon yoga pants are so expensive - they need to cover this shrinkage as well. The pictures in this NY Post story are priceless.
