Connecticut Democrats still pushing to allow men in women's sports

In spite of Trump's Executive Order banning biological men from women's sports, Connecticut Democrats are still pushing back. The language of Title IX was changed to remove the word "gender identity" in defining a woman. Most of the country agrees with this change. The Trump administration has threatened to take away funding to schools who allow biological men who "identify" as women to participate in women's sports.

CT history: In 2018 in Connecticut, transgender athletes Terry Miller of Bulkeley High School in Hartford and Andraya Yearwood of Cromwell High School earned medals in Track and Field. In 2020, a group of four biological girl sprinters who competed in the race sued the CIAC (the governing body for CT high school sports) and multiple schoolboards for allowing "gender identity". In 2024, the judge who initially dismissed the case, ruled that the suit could proceed, in light of the direct conflict between Title IX that provides fair competition for biological females and in the interest of providing transgender girls with opportunities to participate in girls' sports. The outcome of this case will be important in hopefully settling this issue once and for all.

CT Attorney General Tong (D) said, Trump's order to keep biological men out of women's sports is "mean-spirited, unlawful and deeply harmful to all Connecticut students."

Between the Lines: When will CT wake up and stop this charade that is dangerous and deeply harmful to biological women and girls.
