Changes underway in village of Old Greenwich

After 80 years of ownership by the Nolan Thompson family trust, a substantial section of Old Greenwich real estate has been sold for $19 million. The family trust was set up after the death of owner George Boles in 1944. Holdings include 47,000 square feet real estate, including 17 retail storefonts, 17 office suites, 10 apartments and a large warehouse. The purchaser was OG Real Estate LLC (local business executives who are part of the Old Greenwich community) in a transaction completed last week.

The storefronts along Sound Beach Avenue include Images, Indulge Salon, Old Greenwich Butcher, Fred, Iamwild Art, Sushi Bar, The Village Ewe, Anna Banana, Lily, Bennet Jewelers, J&S Cleaners and Chase Bank. Properties on Arcadia Road include Family Functional Fitness Studio, Alpen Pantry, James Wong Laundry & Cleaners, 20/20 Optical and Berkshire Hathaway Realtors.

Between the lines: Changes could include rising rents and possible disruption to the quaint and eclectic row of shops and stores.
