Celebrate Earth Day at the Converse Brook Preserve

Come to the Converse Brook Preserve today April 22 from 10 am to 1 pm and celebrate Earth Day with a day of service sponsored by the Greenwich Land Trust. Tasks include trail maintenance, native planting, invasive plant removal, and mulching. There will be light refreshments and you can stop by any time.

Rare sizable undeveloped land. Greenwich Land Trust acquired this sizable 72 acres of open space in September 2020. With large undeveloped parcels such as this becoming increasingly rare in Greenwich, this preserve helps to protect the character, critical habitat, and water quality in the Byram River watershed.

History. Greenwich Water Company purchased much of the forested land surrounding the Rockwood and Putnam Reservoirs in the late 19th century. The corner of Lake Avenue and Old Mill Road has retained its woodland character, reminiscent of the natural heritage that once existed throughout Greenwich. Threaded with the remnants of colonial era stonewalls, the land has remained untouched for generations, offering a respite from the developed areas of Town. This is Greenwich Land Trust’s largest preserve.
