Celebrate Arbor Day - Wed or Fri?

In 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees. This holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of more than 1 million trees in Nebraska. The advent of Earth Day in 1970 has surpassed Arbor Day in popularity.

A google search says that in CT and most states Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April, which is April 26 this year. The Greenwich first Selectman, wanting to get an early start, proclaimed April 24 as our Town's official Arbor Day.
