CT Governor Lamont (D) has until next Tuesday, June 24 to address the controversial affordable housing bill HB 5002 that is sitting on his desk. This bill was passed by Democrats who control the supermajority of the House and Senate in Hartford. In the name of affordable housing, this bill will turn small towns into denser places in favor of State central planning.
The opposition to this bill has been virulent. It looks like there is a possibility that Lamont could veto. In some hopeful comments, he said he wants the towns to take the lead on affordable housing and is skeptical that this bill does that. You can give it one last push by emailing him here.
Between the Lines: If CT were able to attract businesses who provide good high paying jobs, that would make everything look affordable. But being a highly taxed, expensive energy state welcoming low skilled sanctuary workers won't cut it.
