Greenwich Police arrested 33-year-old Trevor Singer of New York after discovering he was selling illegal kratom products directly out of his vehicle. The arrest occurred early Tuesday morning, August 25th, on Putnam Avenue around 6 a.m.
Officers impounded the vehicle and recovered over $20,000 worth of illicit kratom products—specifically concentrated 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-Hydroxy). Singer faces four charges: sale of a controlled substance, possession, possession with intent to sell, and operating a drug factory. Held on a $50,000 bond, he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court.
Prior to early 2026, raw plant and synthetic kratom were unregulated in Connecticut, allowing anyone of any age to purchase them at local gas stations or smoke shops. Connecticut now enforces some of the strictest laws in the nation, placing all forms of kratom onto its Schedule I list alongside drugs like heroin, making possession and sale illegal statewide.
