Police sent out notice that the Town of Greenwich has recently been experiencing a series of auto thefts, particularly targeting high-end motor vehicles such as BMWs between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The suspects are known to target homes with these vehicles. If the keys are not in the car, they enter the homeowners' residences through unlocked doors, particularly gaining access via unlocked "mud room" areas. While inside the home, they search the area for keys and fobs.
Eearly on the morning on Thursday May 2nd, at approximately 3:20 AM, the Greenwich Police located an auto theft group operating in the Town but were unable to apprehend them due to their high rate of speed as they fled Greenwich.
Residents are advised to lock your vehicles and residences, activate your alarms, and ensure that your home outdoor cameras, if equipped, are functioning correctly. Additionally, residents are asked to report any suspicious activity to the Police Department immediately via 911.
