Great news. After 23 years, TSA quietly ended the long-dreaded shoe removal requirement during airport security screening.
It all started in Dec 2001, three months after the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. An American convert to Islam on a flight from Paris to Miami wore shoes packed with explosives and tried to ignite them in flight. Passengers stopped the "shoe bomber" and he was sentenced to life in prison.
That started the shoe removal insanity, and, like most government programs, it never ended, until now.
Between the Lines: When will the other shoes drop e.g. laptops, full sized toothpaste and 3-1-1 liquids rule. Making travel great again!
