The Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works will conduct a hybrid public involvement meeting concerning the proposed Route 1 Corridor Adaptive Signal Control Technology Improvements Project on Tuesday June 11, 2024, at 6 pm in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room.
Preliminary design has been completed by the Town of Greenwich and the project is slated for construction Summer 2025 under the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT).
The purpose of the project is to improve air quality, reduce congestion, minimize delay, and decrease travel time along the Route 1 corridor and on I-95 near Exit 5. Sounds good, but
Installation will include
Replacement of cabinets - above ground? how big? graffiti free? Why not below ground?
Audible pedestrian signals - how loud?
New cameras for vehicle detection - used for only this purpose? can they scan license plates?.
